Mississauga Artistic Swimming Club (MASA) is seeking a High Performance (HP) Artistic Swimming Coach to assist in leading the implementation of a High Performance athlete program. As an HP Coach, you will be responsible for the development, planning and execution of all training and competitive activities related to the MASA HP Program. An HP Coach will uphold the MASA Values while abiding by all relevant MASA policies and procedures as they work to advance the level of performance of identified and developing high performance athletes in Ontario.

Who We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a coach who will lead, inspire, and strengthen our athletes and programs. The successful candidate will build positive, meaningful relationships with athletes, parents, the coaching team and board members while embracing our mission to grow the sport of artistic swimming.
As An HP Artistic Swimming Coach You Have / Will:
- A passion for artistic swimming and a genuine interest in the development and success of athletes.
- A sound understanding of artistic swimming techniques, routines, and rules, and the ability to effectively teach and correct athletes’ skills.
- Knowledge of Canadian sport frameworks, including the Long-Term Development Framework, True Sport principles, and Safe Sport training (ideal).
- In collaboration with the Head Coach, contribute to high performance and athlete development strategic planning.
- Assist in the development and implementation of program components that support MASA athletes in their development on the High Performance pathway.
- Assist in the development and implement of training that supports athletes in developing attributes of the winning style of performance identified in Canada Artistic Swimming’s Gold Medal Profile.
- Prepare program plans and schedules that are consistent with principles of LTD and athlete pathways.
- Teach fundamental skills, appropriate physical conditioning, individual and team strategies and value the rich tradition of the sport.
- In collaboration with the Head Coach, assist with the selection of the team routine, duet & soloist selection, and in-house alternate selection as per MASA Selection Criteria.
- Teach, mentor, educate, delegate to, supervise, and evaluate Assistant Coach(es) and/or Apprentice Coach(es) as appropriate.
- Prepare and lead training schedule plan, practice plans, routine training and revision (including Team routine and extra routines as needed), and figure preparation (if applicable).
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to foster positive coach-athlete connections and coach athletes in an age-appropriate manner.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions, feedback, and motivation to athletes.
- Effectively communicate with MASA, athletes, coaches, and families.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to plan and execute training sessions efficiently.
- Proven technical coaching ability and a track record of creating safe, effective, and inspiring training environments.
- Model the principles of fair play, professionalism, and good sportsmanship at all times.
- Other duties related to the nature of the position, as determined by the Head Coach.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- A current & valid Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check is required or ability to produce one prior to start date.
- A signed waiver, and other documents as per Ontario Artistic Swimming Policies.
- First Aid & CPR certifications, or willingness to obtain certification.
- Compliance with relevant ON and Canada Artistic Swimming (OAS and CAS) certification requirements.
- CAC Competition Development certified or equivalent.
- NLS-Pool and SFA/CPR-C certified.
- Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders certification, complete NCCP Making Head Way in Sport and NCCP Making Ethical Decisions modules.
- Have a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Have a valid Passport for travel.
- Previous experience as a competitive artistic swimmer at a high level is essential.
- Experience with the Provincial Team and/or HP Academy programs or equivalent as an asset.
- Experience in planning training camps, safely traveling with teams by air, ground, etc., interacting with parents, structuring meetings, supervising coaches, and evaluating staff is preferred.
- Be a mature, knowledgeable, and experienced Coach.
- Strong administration and organizational skills.
- Be a member in good standing within Ontario Artistic Swimming.
- Other credentials aligning with the Job Description are an asset.
- Ability to travel and work irregular hours including evenings and weekends as required to meet the needs of the position.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, to accommodate training schedules and competitions.
- Compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Available from 4 to 20 hours per week, depending on availability and certifications.
