Head Coach

As one of the oldest Artistic Swimming Clubs in Ontario, Mississauga Artistic Swimming Club is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and passionate head coach to lead our team of athletes to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will handle developing and implementing recreational, training and competition programs, providing leadership and support to athletes and associate coaches, and representing the club in a positive and professional manner at local, regional, and national competitions. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program that is tailored to the needs of the club’s athletes and aligned with the club’s goals and objectives 
  • Coach athletes of all skill levels, from novice to advanced, in all aspects of artistic swimming, including routines, figures, and technical elements 
  • Identify and recruit talented athletes, and provide ongoing support and mentorship to help them achieve their goals 
  • Work collaboratively with associate coaches and athlete families to ensure the smooth operation of the club’s training and competition programs 
  • Represent the club in a positive and professional manner at all competitions and maintain positive relationships with other clubs and organizations in the artistic swimming community 
  • Develop and maintain a safe and positive training environment, in which athletes are encouraged to learn, grow, and have fun 
  • Ensure operations are in-line with the club’s budget and resources 
  • Provide regular communication and feedback to athletes and their families, and promote a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and inclusivity 
  • Maintain relationships with City of Mississauga facilities teams to ensure availability of resources for team training. 
  • Stay abreast of the evolution of and changes to the sport of artistic swimming 

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a successful artistic swimming coach, with a record of accomplishment of developing athletes to their full potential 
  • Extensive knowledge of artistic swimming techniques, training methods, and competition rules and regulations 
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate athletes and assistant coaches to achieve their goals 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with athletes, parents, volunteers, and other stakeholders 
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and inclusivity, and experience in creating a positive and supportive team culture 
  • Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively, and to develop and implement plans to achieve the club’s goals and objectives 
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends, and to travel to competitions as required 
  • Certification by the Canadian Artistic Swimming (CAS) association, or willingness to obtain certification within a reasonable timeframe 
  • Clear, up to date Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check 
  • First Aid trained and certified 
The successful candidate will report to the club’s board of directors and will work closely with other coaches and volunteers to ensure the success of the club’s programs and initiatives.
